MY 5TH MONTH BLOG REPORT GIVES YOU AN INSIDE LOOK INTO BEHIND THE SCENES STATS AND GOALS.
January was a gloomy month and I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to spring! In addition to gray skies and wet weather, the majority of the month was a bit chaotic for Mr. E and me. We had a flooring company redo our floors into beautiful polished concrete, but the entire process was quite the roller coaster—primarily because they hit a water pipe in the meantime, triggering added complications like coordinating multiple contractors and managing life without running water.
All of this to say, I didn’t dedicate near as much time to my blog as I had hoped. Yet, I’m still very pleased with how things are moving along.
If this is your first time reading one of my blog reports, welcome! In this 5th month blog report, you’ll read all about my progress as a newbie blogger as I’ll cover traffic, stats, most popular pages, plus goals accomplished (and the ones I struck out on).
Let’s get to it!

Publish five articles » Miss. I published three. I had high hopes to publish five… and then four… but life got in the way. Which I’m okay with. 🙂

Average 100 users a day (3,100 users total) » Miss. I averaged 54.77 users a day (1,698 total) who gave me 2,118 pageviews overall. This is half the amount of traffic I received last month, but most of my traffic last month led to my For Him: 10 Gifts He Secretly Wants post—perfect for Christmas shopping. I have heard that January is a slow month for bloggers as well, although I can’t speak to this personally.
Create one opt-in freebie and post to blog » Success! I’m so happy I was able to tackle this at the beginning of the month. In the month of January I gained 13 new subscribers. This means I gained more subscribers in January than I have the previous four months! I’m already realizing the benefits of an opt-in freebie and it’s quite exciting.
Create a new subscriber welcome email » Success! Along with an opt-in freebie, new subscribers are given the warm welcome they deserve.
Update affiliate links to nofollow links » Miss. Sadly. I was starting to get the point where I didn’t even want to do this seeing as there was a high chance I could have been rejected from Amazon Associates, so this goal was low on the priority list for me.
Make at least one more qualified sale as an Amazon Associate » Success! I am over the moon! And I literally found out less than an hour ago as I sit here typing this. I logged in to my account and there it was, my third sale. So I scurry to find Amazon’s associate support phone line to see if all of my sales are considered qualified sales. The rep tells me yes! I don’t outwardly show excitement much of the time, but I was ecstatic and not afraid to show it. (Probably scared my cats… and my husband.) ????
750 Pinterest followers » Miss. I ended January with 666 (+188 from the previous month).
Reach 500K monthly Pinterest viewers » Success! By January 31, I reached 809,331 viewers (+546K from the previous month end date). Wow! This is not what I was expecting, but thrilled.
Publish five articles » I’m tempted to shoot for publishing only four articles seeing as February is a short month and Mr. E and I still have so much to do around the house to move back in. But setting this number a little higher gives me a slight push.
Average 100 users a day (2,800 users total) » 100 users a day is the same number I set for myself last month, but because I didn’t make it then I’ll try again for February. I really, really slacked off scheduling my pins using Tailwind for almost an entire week at the end of January. Fingers crossed it didn’t knock me back too much.
Deliver a new-and-improved opt-in freebie » I have an opt-in freebie in the works to replace my current opt-in freebie. I’m hoping this new design appeals to a wider audience and can provide more value.
Update affiliate links to nofollow links » Seeing as I made my 3rd qualified sale as an Amazon Associate, I have to do this! I’ve put if off for too long now.
Gain 20 new email subscribers » This number may be set too low? Because I haven’t been setting subscriber goals up to this point (and I just recently starting delivering an opt-in freebie), I’m not quite sure what to expect. I’m hoping an updated freebie will help me reach this, along with improved messaging on my opt-in popup and forms.
Research how to make a static homepage » A beautifully designed static homepage would be a dream! I am not set on doing this straight away, but think researching, documenting, and drafting a mockup would be a great start.
Did you reach your January goals? What are you blogging goals for February?
