CHRISTMAS CHEER IS HERE! GET INTO THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT WITH A LOOK AT MY HOLIDAY AND WINTER FAVORITES!
I’m thrilled to say I was tagged by the delightful Susan at Joyful Tiny Living to participate in this Blogmas Winter Tag! Given the chance to talk about all things holiday was such a happy surprise, so of course I gladly accepted the invitation!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY TRADITION?
Oh my goodness, so many to choose from! I would have to say my favorite holiday tradition is setting up the Christmas tree and putting out decorations with my husband. Mr. E and I don’t do this on any particular day, yet it’s usually the first or second weekend in December. We play Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas (the cartoon version) and indulge in rum eggnog topped with a little—oh, who am I kidding—a HUGE sprinkle of nutmeg!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WINTER SCENT?
Most definitely anything pine scented. I have a hard time buying candles for myself (they’re so expensive!), but I recently bought and have been enjoying Yankee Candle’s Balsam Fir.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WINTER GO-TO FASHION TREND?
Boots! Winter is the perfect time to wear any kind of boot. In Texas, summer is typically a bit too hot for some styles.
WHAT IS YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE HOLIDAY MOVIE?
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. I’ve been watching this movie as a kid (minus my parents making me close my eyes as they fast-forwarded through at least one adult-friendly scene), and it is a must-watch every year.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ALL-TIME HOLIDAY TUNE?
I LOVE Carol of the Bells. Coming close in second place would be Sleigh Ride. In high school I played the flute, and my band would play Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride every year. Brings back happy memories.
DO YOU PREFER TO TRAVEL OR STAY AT HOME DURING THE HOLIDAYS?
Stay home. Although, I would really love to travel at least once during the holidays in the future. We looked into it a few years ago, but prices sure do skyrocket that time of year! I do enjoy traveling in early January once the prices and crowds die down.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WINTER ACTIVITY?
Does drinking eggnog count as a winter activity? 😀 If I lived where it snowed, I would say snow tubing or snowmobiling.
DO YOU LOVE OR HATE THE SNOW?
Love! But there’s a good chance I could have a different opinion if I lived somewhere it snowed regularly.
WHAT IS ONE ITEM ON YOUR WISH LIST THIS YEAR?
A rose gold ring. Just a plain, simple band. Mr. E bought one for me several years ago that I wore every day. Until I dropped it in my closet. Never to be found again. I still don’t know how I managed that.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY TREAT?
Butter cookies, hands down. My grandma, who lived states away, would mail us butter cookies every Christmas. Since she passed, I picked up a newer model cookie press (this one by OXO) and have continued the tradition. I love baking, sharing, and eating these little morsels of deliciousness. Seriously, they’re extremely addicting. In all honesty, I love butter cookies so much, they easily made it to my 25 Small Joys That Make Me Genuinely Happy post.
